What was your 2nd RPG?

4e DnD. I started with 3.5, played in only a few campaigns and tried DMing once (it didn't go well). With the new edition claiming to be easier to run and play, I tried DMing again with some new players. We played a lot of 4e, rotating DM duties, and participating in organized play campaigns. After that, I branched out to other non DnD systems.

I went through three role-play games and rather quick succession. We started with dungeons of dragons, a mashup of BX, BECMI, and ADND second edition (it was elementary school. None of us really knew what we were doing) which was replaced after four months by star frontiers because we were all way more into science fiction. After a two year hiatus from gaming due to the satanic panic, thanks mom and dad I switched to Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and another strangeness and cyberpunk 2020 at almost exactly at the same time.

I haven't played an RPG since the mid-90s. I started with the Moldvay basic set in 1982 (there was a D&D club at school that some kid in my class told me about... D&D? What's that?). I bought those and the AD&D books... I guess that makes AD&D my second? But we seem to be counting those as the same game, which is cool. I did buy some of the Palladium books and the 1E Warhammer FRPG... but I mined those for ideas rather than playing them (had a whole campaign based around the skaven from Warhammer...). I stopped playing D&D early in my university days. At my first job, I hung out with a couple of the girls from work. One lived with her boyfriend in what was essentially a frat house (i.e. all of his friends were there all the time). Turns out they were big into Ars Magica, which came out of nowhere. So I played one session of that... I was a non-wizard in an all wizard setting. A guard at the wizard's enclave... can't recall the details.

So there you go: Ars Magica was my second RPG.

What an interesting question! I am thinking it was Tunnels and Trolls, which came out in 1975 and I remember playing it very young. But I also remember that my library got a copy of Traveller, which came out in 1978. I think it was T&T but it gets back into the mists of time.

Both games came after the White Box for me.

Both of those games were brilliant in their own way back then and changed my view of what RPGs were.

The second TTRPG I ever played was AD&D 2nd Edition; the first was Earthdawn 1st Edition.

Prior to that I had read through the original Middle Earth Roleplaying game box set, which my mom had bought me for Christmas a year or two prior, but my 12 yar old brain couldn't really make heads or tails of the Rolemaster system at the time so I never ended up playing it.
