D&D 4E What will the effect of 4E be on other d20 games?

I'm thinking specifically of games that have taken the 3/3.5E OGL and developed their own derivative rulesets like Arcana Evolved, Conan, Iron Heroes, Thieves' World, Warhammer, etc.

Will new editions be produced based on a 4E OGL (probably not popular for Conan as the 2E is due out this month) or will these games maintain their links with the current edition?

 It wasn't all in vain, mr. Dancey.

I doubt they'd move to 4e OGL. For the most part these products rely on things in the 3.5e SRD and/or 3rd-party products released under the current OGL. This will make it difficult, if not impossible, to release them under the new upcoming OGL, as (unlike some other similar licenses) the OGL doesn't contain an "automatic update" option. This means material released under the (current) v1.0a OGL will be incompatible legally with material released under the (upcoming) v2.0 OGL.

Some products, that rely entirely on in-house work or so on, might re-release under v2 OGL. This might simply be a matter of an official declaration by the publisher to this affect, a change in the pdf files, or - far more rarely - a new (probably revised) printing. But I doubt many will take this route.

All this assumes the OGL itself will be changed. I think it will be.

So my answer is - these games will maintain their current form and won't be affected by the new edition at all.
