what would be a good idea for a cohort for this character?

well, how many dead does it take to equal a ton? ive converted some of the storage space on my airship for living passengers, but i have 6 tons of storage space left. if i have a dread necromancer as a cohort, thats even more dead to add to the cargo hold of my ship. plus another character might be playing some sort of arcane necromancer variant, im unsure. plus at level 15, im sure we will have plenty of valuable cargo as well.

i might go with the necropolitan mystic theurge, as i would need my cohort to have the problem-solving spells that my character lacks. is there a domain that allows a cleric to cast (repair) spells? in case my ship is damaged, or any other object.

i will keep the necromancer cohort idea in mind, but im looking for an interesting arcane / divine class combination to put together in a character so they qualify for mystic theurge.

i have undead leadership, so my cohort has to be undead...

Libris Mortis (the Book of Bad Latin) disagrees.

Undead Leadership [general]
...blahblahblah...
prereqs: blahblah
benefits: You attract followers and a cohort as if you had taken the Leadership feat. Your leadership score is treated as 2 higher than it otherwise would be for the purposes of attracting undead followers and treated as 4 lower than it otherwise would be for the purposes of attracking living followers.
If you choose to attract an undead cohort rather than a living cohort, you can attact an undead cohort with a max ECL 2 less than your ECL...
special: blahblah
emphasis and "blahblahs" mine :p

human Cleric (of a campaign appropriate Death God) 13 who has Tomb-tainted Soul sounds about right.

A ghost (LA +5) or a Gravetouched Ghoul (+2) would make for awesome undead cohorts.

Also, don't forget to collect Vampire Spawn (preferably of 5+ HD) as you adventure... they're like extra cohorts, but more so (as they can make more of themselves, giving you a vast army of undead).

i thought vampire spawn couldnt make more of themselves? i thought only real (LA +8) vampires could do that.

and as for the living/undead cohort, thanks for the advice but if i get a bonus for picking an undead cohort and a penalty for having a living cohort, then i would prefer an undead one.

Im gonna go with an evil cleric 3 / (insert interesting arcane class here) 3 / mystic theurge 7 i think, but i havent decided yet. i will hit the books and return later. ideas are still appreciated, keep em coming!

Depending on your Cha... consider a 1 level dip in Master Vampire

I should have been more clear... I said Vampire Spawn when I meant "Vampire spawn". :p

Any spawn you create with 5+ HD is a true Vampire, who can make further spawn (either more Vampires or Vampire Spawn). You have 100% control of the spawn you create (whether Vampires or Vampire Spawn... unless you make too many HD...)

1-4 HD = Vampire Spawn
5+ HD = Vampire (spawn :p)

Also it is worth noting that the limit of how many spawn you can enslave is entirely based on hit dice (yours and your victim's), not ECL. So your character (swashbuckler 3 / swordsage 4) could have up to 14 HD of spawn. Lets say this spawn happens to be a 14 HD Vampire (his HD matters, not his ECL), he could in turn have up to 28 HD in spawn... etc.
As the master vampire (the one at the top of the chain), all those spawn are under your thumb.

So, if you accidently make a Spawn (less than 5 HD), feel free to destroy it and try again.

Its good to be the king master vampire.

The bonus/penalty for living/undead applies only to your Followers (namely, how many you get). Your Cohort can be either without influencing the bonus on your Followers.

Questions?
