Actually, I'd probably pay out the loan my mother gave me for my mortgage deposit, do some renovations on my house, and go to Origins and Gencon next year. Anything left over would go towards the mortgage.

I'd pay off all my credit cards, clear my holiday loan, then I'd look at taking a holiday somewhere far away that I would be unlikely to get to otherwise.
The remainder I'd use as a nest egg for the future. eg: house, further education, family, emergency, etc..

Depends on the size of the windfall.
For the suggested amount, down payment on a condo.
As the windfall increases, increase down payment on condo, and then start on a nice car. If it gets above $200k, I start thinking about quitting work and going to grad school. When we get into 7 and 8 figures, well...I've figured out what the letterhead for my charitable foundation would look like.
I've thought ENTIRELY too much about this.

Err... pay off my student loans and my car or make a down payment on a condo (if I lived somewhere with more rational housing prices, it'd be a house... but in SoCal, it'd be a condo). $50K isn't enough money to radically change your life (at least, not when you're out of college and have a fairly well-paying job).

Like everyone else, I'd agree that debts suck. After the mandatory "get rid of debts, invest" is over, I would:
1. Buy a new computer.
2. Buy some Magic cards.
3. Buy a PS2, Soul Calibur 2, and Metal Gear Solid 3.
4. Give large gifts to all of my friends.
5. Buy flowers for about a half-dozen women I have a crush on. We're talking a lot of flowers here.
6. Buy a plane ticket home for just after Halloween so I can go to the Texas Renaissance Festival and see all my friends from home. Maybe see if I can bring along some of my Atlanta friends.
7. Buy a plane ticket home for Christmas, and recruit all my friends to help me decide what perfect gifts I could give my mother to thank her for supporting me through life and college.
8. Donate $1000 to ENWorld, $100 to animemusicvideos.org, $100 to sluggy.com, and earmark another $800 for other places that have entertained me.
9. That reminds me. *sigh* I'd buy a legal copy of Adobe Photoshop.
