  • Other (precise by posting)

I voted for everything except "other", because I buy and use it all.

For instance, on my "current reading" shelf, on the wall I'm facing:
  • D&D: Player's Handbook, Dungeon Master's Guide, Monster Manual, Fiend Folio, Book of Exalted Deeds, Book of Vile Darkness, Complete Arcane, Complete Divine, Complete Warrior, Dungeon Master's Guide II, Lords of Madness, Races of Stone, Planar Handbook, Unearthed Arcana, and Expanded Psionics Handbook.
  • Forgotten Realms: Serpent Kingdoms, bought for the theme and not the setting.
  • Eberron: Eberron Campaign Setting, Sharn: City of Towers, Races of Eberron, and Five Nations.
  • "Setting": Ghostwalk and Oriental Adventures.
  • d20 Fantasy: Ravenloft Campaign Setting, Arcana Evolved, Transcendence (and I had Arcana Unearthed until I donated it to my university gaming society's library last night), Anger of Angels, Chaositech, and Complete Book of Eldritch Might.
  • d20 Non-Fantasy: d20 Adventure! and d20 Aberrant.
  • World of Darkness: World of Darkness, Vampire: the Requiem, Lancea Sanctum, and Werewolf: the Forsaken.
  • GURPS: the two volumes of the Fourth Edition Basic Set, Fourth Edition Fantasy, Infinite Worlds, Alternate Earths, Alternate Earths II, and Atomic Horror.

In addition, I have a couple of Revised Vampire: the Masquerade books, a half-dozen Hunter: the Reckoning books, Unknown Armies . . . so there's no reason why I would want any of the categories above excluded or diminished in "my" game store.

Roleplayers.

I second that. Our local store is dominated by Yugi-oh and Pokemon fans. They have special gaming sessions for these kids all weekend, every weekend. Roleplayers only get 4 hours on Thursday nights.

I wish game stores had more demo space or game rooms. Of my favorite 3 locations in Dallas, only one has an actual gaming room.

The others have to set up tables in the main areas of the stores to run a tournament or host a game demo.

I've been there, but like the Columbus stores, it is 2.5 hours away. :(
I think I got my Manual of the Planes there a couple years ago. Very nice store.

They did move to a new location about five minutes south of where they were on Hill Rd. Little bit smaller, but the same good selection and gaming tables, Bruce and Diane are fabulous people, and the other guys who help with the shop are great about helping gamers and very knowledgable to boot, Ken went out of his way to make sure that I had a copy of Blue Rose because he remembered that I had asked several times about it coming out...

derbacher, there is an LGS in Lancaster, Ohio. They have a lot of stuff but I got the impression that they were more into the comics and collectibles, hobby but the store is big by most game store standards and did have a nice stock of RPG stuff. Not really close enough to you to make a big difference in travel time but if you are into comics and collectible then I would definetly suggest checking it out. I can give you directions if you want.

Aside from the other things I mentioned, I do like a used section. Most places don't have them since it is a hassel and they usually don't seem to have enoiugh space for the new stuff. But I always cruise the loacal used book stores for gaming.

For other: I just want to see more new stuff coming in, some times you get tired of seeing the same old copies of some obsure d20 product sitting on the shelf for years because they never sold or thought of ebaying it and getting new stuff in.

I do not mind Yui-Gi-Oh! or Pirates! or even the Clix fanatics as long as they are spending money at the store. One FLGS owner used to get mad at the Magic player who wanted him to hold tourneys. He never would because they never bought cards from him. They would just come in and brag about finding dirt cheap cards on the 'net in bulk...

I like having at least a semi enclosed area for RPGs. Thjis is because I am deaf and need it to be quiet in order to have a hope of hearing the DM.
