What's a 10-foot pole really worth to you?

With all the recent controversy surrounding the 10-foot pole issue, I thought it would be good to clear the air a little and let people clarify in a non-judgmental manner(!) what their characters would or would not touch with a 10-foot pole.

Please, be kind and don't pick on anyone for his or her response.

Well certainly - if it's a 10' ladder, you get TWO 10' poles, plus about 10 other little poles to boot.

Our DM once punished our party after we insisted we each carry a 10-foot pole. We should have been suspicious when he started narrowing the hallways to 5 feet wide and putting in lots of sharp turns ...

When you declare, "We run away!" in a panic, you should always be sure to specify that you drop the stupid 10-foot pole first.

Doesn't everyone carry a collapsable 10 foot pole? Very helpful for prodding that tile on the floor that sticks up slightly from the rest of the floor, or to balance across a rope strung across a large chasm, or to push the fighter types ahead of me so that I have time to cast invisibility on myself.
