Whats a DM ta do?

There's not only the reviews, but usually every D&D release has its own thread with questions asked by some lucky bastard who got the thing early.

You know its funny though...threads devoted to a particular release seem to drop off once the book is out. I've noticed a tendency (and this isn't really a slam on anyone) that people seem to be more interested in speculating on stuff that they don't have yet, then they are about discussing it once they have the book. I find that a little curious.

Regardless, this site's pretty good. I go to Wizards for articles and previews, then here for the discussion. WOTCs forums are OK too, but seem to cater to a younger attitude.

Well, as long as it isn't out yet, we don't know too much about it, so we'll speculate about the whole book. But once we got the book, we don't have to speculate or talk about the whole book (except for saying how you like it): At this stage, we generally talk about the stuff that intersts us most at the moment.

Let's just take one random example: Right now, we don't know too much about Drow of the Underdark, so we'll speculate about what's in the book. "What kind of PrC's will be in DotU?" "Will they mention Drow gods? Will it be the old/FR pantheon? Eberron's way? Something completely new?" And so on.

But once it's out, there will be some "Why I love/hate/think it's broken DotU" threads, but mostly it will be discussed in the forums as a whole: One guy will talk about how the "Sting of Lolth" assassin type PrC was exactly the right thing for his drow rogue, the other will say how the "Eightfold Stab" tactical feat is great for his drow fighter, and so on.

WOTCs forums are OK too, but seem to cater to a younger attitude.

Only as long it's all about fluffy bunnies. As soon as there is an even remotely controversial topic, the whole thing explodes like explosive runes painted on barrels of gunpowder.

numion,

And Scarred Lands! Don't forget that! ;)

But like everyone said, En World is THE fan oriented D&D place to be. Sure it might not ALWAYS be 100% up to date, but it's way better than wading through the crap on WotC's boards. Trust me. Been there, done that, have the t-shirt and the welts to prove it. En world is way better. :)
