Does it have racial hit dice, or just a level adjustment? If the latter...none. Level adjustment just means you're one (or more) level behind the party, you get no level benefits like hit points or skill points, it's to pay for the benefits that template/race is giving you.

If you had a LA +1 template, then you would have 4 class levels when the rest of the party (without LA) was level 5. You would still have level 5 xp and treasure, you'd just have less actual class levels.

well the way our DM plays it we essentially take the template or race as a level equal to the adjustment so a Drow has a level adjustment of +2 and the party is level 3 so it would end up a Drow/2 cleric/1

so im not sure it dosnt say themplate gets any Hit Die but the example does so im pretty confused

I'm working on a archer right now, Scout 4/Ranger 6/Cleric 1 with swift hunter, improved skirmish, greater manyshot, ranged skirmisher, and travel devotion feats. A splitter bow and boots of skirmishing are great to go along with it too.

This is something I'm building up to, but once I get there it will be doing so awesome damage.

But what type of archer are you going for, just pure damage or more precise shots?

I have to piggyback on what everyone is saying, elves are your best bet for a race. avariel might make things interesting, I haven't played a winged archer but it could be fun

Obah-Blessed template from Dungeon Magazine 136 is a fun one to look at.

+2 Str, +4 Dex, +2 Con, +4 Cha
one extra pair of arms
multi-weapon fighting bonus feat
+2 LA

-- or --

+4 Str, +6 Dex, +4 Con, +6 Cha
two extra pairs of arms
multi-weapon fighting bonus feat
+3 LA
