What's MAD?

And MID would probably mean Multiple Item Dependency, for classes like the 4e paladin who wants both a +X holy symbol and a +X weapon.

Multiple Attribute Dependency. It's when your build requires more than 1 attribute to function correctly. Less of a problem in 4E since you can boost 2 attributes at once, but 3E only boosted 1 at a time so many classes wanted very high starting stats all around. Exists a bit still in 4E with star warlocks, dual implement wizards, and wisdom twf rangers.

Multiple Item Dependency is less of a problem because it'll only exist if you multiclass or grab both halves of the class build (battle laser cleric, melee and ranged ranger).

Sadly the 4E pally still suffers from a bad case of MAD.

Because of the way attributes advance, I wouldn't consider a class "MAD" in 4e until you've built a three attribute dependence.

I see two good non-MAD pally builds: STR/WIS and CHA/WIS.

The STR build gets better OAs, while the CHA build gets better damage from Divine Challenge. As long as you're willing to dump one of these two "stickiness" bonuses, the paladin is not MAD
