What's on the horizon for the Star Wars RPG?

Will there be another edition of the Core Rulebook for Episode III?

Is the survival of the game dependent upon the success of the minis game?

Beyond the Clone Wars book, nothing. However, I'm sure we'll see a few more books added to the schedule once Episode 3 nears a little closer. I wouldn't expect a new version of the Core Rules, but maybe a book about the events in the Prequels. I would hope that we get another Alien Anthology (not a reprint, but AA2) in the future. Plus, there's all the Knights of the Old Republic time persiod stuff that can be written as well.

In all honesty, SW was a fairly finite line. Unless WotC goes the way of WEG and puts out new material not based on anything in the movies or the EU, then they've about exhausted their options. Maybe the new movie and the TV series will help drive out new releases?

What I would like to see are more adversaries: creatures, droids, vehicles, etc.. We have plenty of NPCs, but not so much in the way of other hazards. A greater selection of vehicles and vessels would be nice too.

Actually, the Clone Wars book was announced last year and has since been shelved. As Wizards of the Coast stated at GenCon, they will not be publishing the Star Wars RPG until they feel the miniatures game has "gotten off the ground." Whatever that means.

It irks me, because I'm pretty sure the Clone Wars book is done, just waiting for art/layout/publishing, and I know that another sourcebook by me, Owen K.C. Stephens, and Brian Campbell is completely written and waiting on production.

Bah. I want my Star Wars RPG back.

I agree, but I think I can understand why the CWSB, at least, would be put on hold--that's a tremendously active portion of the timeline right now, and holding it off for a year until it's all finalized might be better in the long run than putting out an incomplete book. I can't speak to why Ultimate Battlestations would be held/cancelled, though.

I hope that if nothing else, WotC can release the books as online freebies.

Wow.

I had no idea that the SWRPG was (becoming?) a closed universe. I guess I better send in all those minis feedback cards indicating that I bought them to use witht he RPG more than 50% of the time.

On a related note, are there any sources for adventures besides the freebies at wizards.com? How can one get the Living Force scenarios?

*sigh*

Well, somehow its comforting to know that there's at least something completely written hidden away waiting to see the light of day. There's so much stuff that still 'needs' to be published. Clone Wars being one, Tales of the Jedi/Knights of the Old Republic Era another, and especially the New Republic(pre-Vong, post Endor) era. Not even mentioning the second half of the New Jedi Order era. And even with that, there's tons of possibilities for the game.

I hope the mini's game is doing well...I know I'm buying my share.

I've heard the possibility mentioned more than once that Lucas is toying with scrapping all of the expanded universe stuff after ROTJ and starting over with a new set of movies. I don't know how concrete this is, and how it could affect the Star Wars license with WOTC.

That's news to me...sounds like more doomsaying and trying to get hate for Lucas up. The question reall is: Where have you heard it from? Because the more credible sources(With TheForce.net being up there at #2 behind Lucasfilm itself) have never had anything like this before.
