Is that your preferred amount, or the actual average? I think I prefer around 50% but probably average more like 70%.

I get rather bored with extended periods of over 50% combat, but spikes of heavy combat sessions are fine. 1/3 to 1/2 combat is the sweet spot for me as an average. The actual average changes per DM in our group. Myself and one DM mostly stay within that range, one has about 2/3 combat, and the other fluctuates wildly between sessions, tending on the high combat side.

I'd love it if we could stay within that range at all times (it is my preference after all), but as I observe with my own DMing, it's not always possible. PCs are strange. :D
