What's the best die type and why is it the d12?

Honorable mention is the 2D10 system for D100. These dice roll much better than the D8 which has a similar diamond shape, and the added bonus of always being rolled in a pair is rad. Two dice getting chucked against the wall of your dice tray is a great feeling and hard to beat.

I love the percentile system. However, I had an epiphany a while ago that the single-digit die is almost always irrelevant when rolling 2d10 – there's only a 10% chance that it'll be needed at all. Thankfully some systems like WFRP at least use it to determine hit locations and whatnot.

The d12 is the only one that I have one of and it holds a place of never being used on game night, so it stays nice and shiny.

While soloing, the trusty d10 with easy 10% probabilities is my oracle guide when in doubt. D8 with clean 12.5% per side easy math is close second.

I voted d12 because its beautiful, but functionally the d10 is probably the one dice.

2d10 makes a great bell curve and the d10 makes a great scatter dice with a pointy part and a number.

Honorable mention to the d6 with three small d6 in it for generating quick charachters.

I need to buy six of these and write strength, dexterity, constitution, ect on them.

Not only ia the d10 not a Platonic Solid, it isn't any kind of named polygon at all. Anathema! 2d20 with the proper notation is far superior for rolling.
