What's the best die type and why is it the d12?

I voted d12 because its beautiful, but functionally the d10 is probably the one dice.

Plato has a word for people like you.

But how about this: I need to keep my dice Platonic. I just can't handle emotional entanglements while gaming.

I like the d12 - mostly because some manufacturers use the dodecahedron to make d4s that won't injure your feet if you step on them.

Not only ia the d10 not a Platonic Solid, it isn't any kind of named polygon at all. Anathema! 2d20 with the proper notation is far superior for rolling.

In any case, a d60 (deltoidal hexecontahedron and a Catalan solid) feels tempting sometimes since you can get 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 10, 12, 15, 20, and 30 from it if your division is quick enough. But not tempting enough for me to ever try.

I like d10s and d6s. I also like 2d20 when generating percentiles. I have no real interest in the others, and antipathy for d4s.

No, I mean two isohedrobns with 0-9 twice over.

I like using d10s as counters to track resources. Base 10, and the non-platonic shape lets you see half the faces at once to quickly find the number you need.

d100 and 2d6 are the clear winners for me. d4s, d8s, d12s, and d20s are the devil's polyhedrons.

I do own a d2 that isn't a coin though.

That's just d10s.

2d6 is d6s.

Rolling more than one of a dice type doesn't change the dice type.

d12, because it's fun to roll and works just as well as a d6 or d4 in a pinch.

I've been eyeing these 12-sided d4s on Amazon for a while...
