What's the best size of a gaming group?

6 people is my favorite size. But whats the best? What ever works for you. Right now my game is 4 peple, and its been working well. I hope to add another soon (been in email contact with a prospective player). The majority of my games have been with 6 people, so its my favorite size. 9 has been to many, and 4 too few

We just went from 6 to 7, though I expect we'll drop in size this summer when two of 'em have a baby arrive...

I think this is about as many as I'd want to handle, and might find that a group of 4 or 5 might work better. My big concern as a GM for a larger group is making sure they all have something to do, and ideally something for them to shine at!

8 people. I have a group that has fluctuated from 4 people to 12 people.

I find it more interesting and challenging with a group of about 8.

We currently have a group of 7, 6 characters and 1 DM.

This has worked wonderfully. It allows for people to play what they find fun. We are able to cover all the bases and have plenty of spice with 6 characters.

I would say either 5 or 6 PC's make for the best groups.

Right now my group has six players, which is the most Barsoom has ever had. It's good.

But I remember running sessions with 12 or more players and having a BLAST! Crazy stupid fun. Two DMs, a dozen players, chaos everywhere, big battles and people shouting their actions down the table as the bad guy starts stomping right and left.

Ah, those were the days...

One campaign has 4 players 1 DM, seems very nice, everyone gets a chance to talk and their characters are always needed for something...

The other has 7 players (+3 cohorts!) and one DM, and I praise S'mon weekly for his ability to run that group without more arguements!

Me too

I am comfortable with anywhere from 3 to 6 players and a GM

I like having 5 because if one is missing the game can go on easier
