Got my copy in the mail a few days ago.

I think they try to get the subscribers their copies first, but sometimes the vagaries of the mail (esp. the mail rate that magazines get shipped at) cause delays.

It's the same reason people get a book before everyone else. Stuff happens.

From what I heard (and experienced when I was a subscriber) this definitely isn't a new or uncommon occurrance.

Nope. It's like everything else in life, it's unfair but it does happen.
