What's the most broken PC you've ever seen?

I have not seen it in a game, but I am pretty sure the Hulking Hurler thread that is up right now, that involves a character throwing a planet-sized object at people for literally billions of damage, is about as broken as I have seen without it involving an infinite loop.

In fact, I have not seen a thread like that since I read a thread a long time ago about a Marvel Superheos game involving Galactus and his planet-eating ability.

I think it had something to do with touch attacks, which are an addition to the 3.0 ruleset, in place of a normal attack, as well as the ability to hold a charge should you fail to connect with a melee attack.

That is dangerously close to sounding reasonable. Not like anything I read in any of the threads I looked at. :)

I know? Scary, huh? I mean, me; reasonable. Next thing you know, dogs and cats will be living together, mass hysteria, etc. :D

what happened to jeremy's sultans of smack?

The hulking hurler requires you to have really really big things to hurl, but in the right game those can always be there, and I'd say 4562 average damage or whatever it was is at least...20x better than 3.0 harm, except for that plethora of monsters with hit points in the 100 thousands :D .

As to that harm deal, my characters are about to reach level 6 spells :heh: .

My secondary character in the RPGA's Living Dragonstar campaign was a kobold fighter. At 1st level:

- 20 Dexterity
- AC 26 (+10 from shock armor, +4 dex (could have been +5, but the max Dex bonus in shock armor is +4), +1 size, +1 natural)
- +9 ranged attack (+1 BAB, +5 Dex, +1 laser sight, +1 minor upgrade from the Mechanist in the party, +1 size bonus)
- To that, add Point Blank Shot for +1 within 30'. And, he also had Rapid Shot, so he could take 2 shots at +7 / +7.

Broken little combat monkey, he was. Too bad I only got to play him once. :D

Note: you don't need to respond to the following comment. Enough flamewars have happened on the subject. I wasn't involved in them, so I will just say: I don't see how Harm suddenly became a problem in 3e when it never was before.

Touch attacks in 3e is one big difference.

We are also seeing a lot more high level campaigns in 3e because of differences in levelling speed. You could play 1e/2e for 4-5 years in the same campaign and never get to cast Harm/Heal. Play by the book 3e and you could might start seeing Harm as a regular in combat after 12-18 months, sooner if you do not start at 1st level.

Thirdly, with readied/delayed actions, more iterative attacks, and more options to min/max, it is much easier in 3e to consistently wipe away those last few HPs from the BBEG before he can blink. With 3.0 Haste, the Cleric has the potential to make the kill singlehandedly.

The worst PC was a 10 barbarian/10 fighter build in 3.0. Pretty straight forward, but he was a terror on the battlefield. My players arn't min/maxers, though. ;)

3.0 Cleric with Harm. :)

Or one with Heal as well..... for facing bigger undead like liches, vampires and the like....

But then, when facing an epic-level vampire, my cleric couldn't hit him worth a damn to cast a Heal spell on him....

Maybe that was what made it a tad more balancing...... :p
