What's the most you've ever spent on a single RPG-related item?

Ptolus last year, $229 including shipping to Europe.
Then, IIRC, the customs people made me pay another €40 to collect it because the seller had marked it Roleplaying GAME instead of BOOK!

Second probably Tome of Horrors Complete preorder,
Third two years of Dungeonaday.

My entire Paizo subscription from Day 1 has passed $3500 - don't tell my girlfriend!

I've spent an awful lot cumulatively on RPG material, but I have a big aversion to single large purchases. I don't think I've ever spent more than $40 for a single item. The last time I did so, it was the hardcover Paizo campaign setting book--first version (for 3.5, not Pathfinder) and even then I thought it was a lot. Considering that the Eberron or Forgotten Realms campaign settings were $10 less when it was new, and quite a bit larger (and possessed of similar, high quality paper and binding and full color artwork on every page, etc.) I actually struggled a bit to not feel ripped off, even though I was glad to make the purchase and loved the book.

I might have spent more than that on the Iron Kingdoms books when they were new... I can't remember if they were $40 or something more. In any case, they were totally worth it. Among my favorite books in my RPG library.

I've spent $500 plus on at least a half dozen items and $1K on two that I know of (very old rare stuff). Then again if I lined up my bookshelves of D&D stuff they would measure 6' tall by 24' wide (8 6' tall and 3' wide bookshelves). There is not much I don't have.

I too have a massive collection of several rpgs dating back over 30 years, but the single most expensive item has to be my engangement gift from my wife: a complete set of polyhedron dice made from meteorite from Crystal Caste. I think she dropped somewhere around $600-$700 on eBay for them.

Holy crap.

Do you know which meteor or what type of meteor they're made from? Got a picture or description? (I'm into working with minerals, and my inner Dwarf just had a forge accident.)

Actually, I have spent a few hundred on a piece of jewelry that, while not RPG related, was inspired 100% by MtG.

It's a "5 Colors" pendant I designed to wear at tournaments. I used real stones (tourmaline, abalone, quartz and others), but, alas, had to cheap out on the metal- its brass. Still, materials & construction set me back a few hundred.

I'm away from home just now, but as I recall, the certificate they came with says they are from "Pomba B" from a Peruvian impact, IIRC. I also believe that there were only 2 full sets of meteorite dice made, and they were auctioned off and never sold publicly. A handfull of d6s and d20s were made of meteorite and they went for around $100 each I think, so that gives you and idea of their net worth..
