What's to become of the Rules Forum?

With the release of Revised bearing down upon us... how do we see the future of this particular Forum?

Split into a 3E and a 3.5E Forum?

Require [3E] or [3.5E] tags on each message?

Forget 3E, it's obsolete?

That's a good question. I think tags would be best. THere will be a lot of 3.5E questions at first, if it dies off or not should determine if the forum needs split. There might not be many 3E questions, so it could be moot.

and then we can get duplicates of "Rate this Feat" polls! yeah!
Rate: 3.0 Quick Draw vs. 3.5 Quick Draw!!

I find the 3.5 fix to be a sad "magic the gathering" marketing strategy to make more money for WOTC. If they were REAL men, they'd call it what it is, Errata and Supplement. Heck, even the nancy-boy resolution would be to call it 4.0 and get it over with.
I want DnD to survive like the next person, but I'm not overly keen on how WOTC seems to be milking money by releasing hordes of books as of late, whether they are worthy or not.

2 cents for free.

Heh. Now that's funny. :D

The rest of the rant belongs in a different forum though.

Damn fine question, Hypersmurf. You sure you want to open up another gate to the infernal realms here. ;) Well you have far more experience than me.

I think the tags are a little silly. After all, 3.5E is going to be considered "core". The SRD is going to be in 3.5. The new books and products are going to be 3.5. Likely WotC won't answer any more questions on 3.0... I think the forums will just shift to 3.5E, unless of course 3.5E is a failure. ::evil laugher!!!!::

I'll recommend tagging [3.5] and [3] at least at start. Then we can tell if a forum split is necessary. This really belongs in Meta, though, so I'll wisk it away using my magical powers right now.

It's something that I've been thinking about quite a bit. For the moment, Dinkeldog's suggestion of using tags seems fine. Later on down the road, we'll see how much "division" there is between versions and deal with it if needed.
