What's up with all the 'evil' books lately?

What's the deal with all the evil books?

Easy, we are evil people. Remember gamers are not only nerds, we are also devil worshipers.

It's your call Hellbender. I guess I like it since I like the setting. But if you don't, that's fine. I will agree that the Book of the Righteous IS good suppliment to D&Dmg for those wanting more on religions, churches and other such things.

And yes there is a section for creating your own gods. I just didn't see the need since I didn't plan on using it much other than for a few mechanics.

And I knew you liked the setting and didn't mean it as a snipe, either. I have the Creature Collections and find them very valuable. The Scarred Lands is a very rich and well thought out setting.

So when are you going to write this book Furn? It looks like you've done some thinking about it.

When you do, I'll buy a copy.:)

*chuckle* Thank you for the vote of confidence, but I just have a mind wrapped around politics and government.

I am not sure I have tha capability to write such a book, but it might be fun to try.

So many questions... I would definetely like a "toolbox" style supplement on how to design believable governments in a fantasy setting. And if no one does it, Furn and I will. OK Furn ?

I agree with a lot of your sentiments- designing a governments that take into consideration magic, monsters, psionics and the rest is pretty difficult.

It would be nice to have such a tool box.

I would be happy enough to help in such a project, but would prefer for some great games designer to do it. ;)

I, for one, am glad for the new monster and villain books.

We've got all the prestige classes, spells, magic items, and feats we need to make our PC's into uber munchkins, it's time to level the playing field a little bit.

Like people have said, different takes on Evil.

For example, let's take a look at a Mafia example.

If Hero system were publishing a Mafia book, it'd be 'Here's some Mafia goon stats! Go beat them up!'

If it were put out by WoD 'Here's how the Mascarade, Veil, and Mage fit into it'.

If it were CoC 'Here's what the Mafia is hiding'.

If it were Shadowrun 'Here's the stats for the Mafia bosses, and their histories'.

If it were D20 'Here's some PrCs, Feats, and Spells of Mafia members! Oh, and 3 pages of information about them.'
