I've been avoiding this thread for a few days from simple lack of ability to pin down even a handful of top-o-the-list reasons but I think the the "silly powerbuilds" thread helped me nail down what might be the single biggest QoL improvement for me as one of those perma-gm types. There are a ton of things I'm excited about in LU & what is probably a near endless list of things that will make my life easier as a freshly empowered narrator, but the synergy feats do something that I as a gm could basically never do by giving multiclass dipping an actual opportunity cost if my campaigns tend to last into the teens rather than dead ending by tenish. For various class to class reasons the slowing progression as characters advance in level ultimately erases any meaningful opportunity cost from a 1-2 level dip in o5e & that made things difficult for me as a GM to balance between players at the table. The synergy feats change that to a 3 level dip and one or more feats to specialize in a new way vrs staying in the original class and spending those feats/asi's on things that are relevant to the original class making Alice & bob's characters viscerally different even if they both started as the same initial class.
