Went hardcover, there is something about reading a text book but I also do like a lot of the benefits from electronic formats.

On electronic formats, would love to get away from books in PDF and have the material formatted for reading on an electronic device, this is mostly columns, left > scroll down > scroll up > right column > next page.

For reading I prefer Hardcover. But lately I moved a lot (next one will be next Wednesday btw) so I started to appreciate pdfs ;) Also all my RPG gaming is online so I don't have problems accessing my pdfs if needed.

I prefer electronic books over deadtree versions because of weight and capacity, being able to carry all my purchased books in digital format is lighter than deadtree and I've gotten adept at finding what I need generally faster than from a book.

Well, I've never felt the need to carry around my whole library. Back in the days when I regularly ran games at different places (typically 5 miles from my home) I rode there with my bicycle and my the books in a backpack and/or bicycle bag. For this purpose hardcovers were much better than softcovers, even being heavier and a bit larger.

Probably a generational thing. :)

*Must spread Experience, grumble*

At least someone else who thinks PDFs to be a bad format for this purpose!

Simple.

1: I don't care what format the rules are in as long as I can refer to them easily.

2: The character sheet is crucial. I want the character sheet to be printable. I also want it to contain all the rules I need beyond the basics to play my character.

I voted for Harcover. However, I do NOT enjoy thick hardcover books that could be used as a viable weapon to kill someone (Pathfinder Core Rulebook I'm looking at you), I prefer slimmer hardcover volumes like what Mongoose Traveller and Castles & Crusades offer. If the book is hefty I'll probably just go PDF to be honest.
