D&D 5E (2024) When are we getting announcements for 2026 books?

We may see a sourcebook with the update of the psionic powers but that doesn't mean the return of Dark Sun. I would bet for a mini-setting style Witchlight, Radiant Citadel or Curse of Strahd.

I think there is value in presenting a setting built for 5.24e ( whichlight or radiant citadel) versus trying to retro the default assumptions of the new system into settings built for 1e.

Ravenloft is too popular for them not revise/revisit/rerealease at some point in the 5.24 cycle.

VGR works fine with the 2024 rules.

For sure, though Curse of Strahd is probably one of the least stingy of the Perkins Oeuvre.
I don’t think stinginess is the reason I’ve come across several players who hate it with a passion.

I wasn’t there, but I suspect it’s because it doesn’t do anything to discourage “weekend in Hell” and “evil DM” playstyles. The only bit I’ve used is the Amber Temple, and that certainly has at least one sadistically designed encounter.

VGR does, so I would rate that higher.

My brother-in-law ran it for us as a full on Comedy, which the text encourages, and as Pratchett-esque parody of Wrekend in Hell? Fantastic.
