When can I use a Swift Action?

Am I able to use a Swift Action in the middle of other actions? For example, lets say I take a Move Action to move 30 feet, but once I get to 20 feet, can I use a Swift Action? Or do I have to end my Move Action at 20 feet, use the Swift Action, then if I want to continue moving again, take my other Move Action and move the other 10 feet?

I think that is legal. Unless the DM, in his rights to reasonably limit 'free actions' has said that free actions cannot be done during such an act.

A swift action consumes a very small amount of time, but represents a larger expenditure of effort and energy than a free action. You can perform one swift action per turn without affecting your ability to perform other actions. In that regard, a swift action is like a free action. However, you can perform only a single swift action per turn, regardless of what other actions you take. You can take a swift action any time you would normally be allowed to take a free action. Swift actions usually involve spellcasting or the activation of magic items; many characters (especially those who don't cast spells) never have an opportunity to take a swift action.

Casting a quickened spell is a swift action (instead of a free action, as stated in the Quicken Spell feat description in the Player's Handbook). In addition, casting any spell with a casting time of 1 swift action (such as choose destiny) is a swift action.

Casting a spell with a casting time of 1 swift action does not provoke attacks of opportunity.

The rules aren't quite clear on whether free actions can be taken during other actions. I would tend to rule that, in general, they can't.

Thanks that clears things up nicely.

So technically you could do a whirlwind attack, strike one foe normally, then cast Blade of Blood, strike the next foe for the extra damage, and then strike another foe for normal damge.

Or while doing a full attack, cast a Quickened True Strike, just before the last iterative which has the worst attack bonus to give it +20 to hit.

Apparently so.
