When do you think Amazon will deliver?

I used free shipping and it says they will ship on the 10th. I don't get that. I will be happy if they at least ship on the release date like they should for a preorder.

That's the deal with the free shipping — not only do they use the cheapest means of actually getting it to you, they also don't stress about getting it into the box quickly.

With June 7th being on a weekend, and presuming they really do ship the (non-free-shipping) orders the previous day, I'm expecting to see it the next Monday.

I'm aiming to order from Barnes and Nobles myself. They charge about 5.00 more for the complete set, but I've found them to be much more reliable. Also they give free same day shipping within NYC (which I am).

I really don't understand the obsession about "having it the day of release". I mean, will a few extra days really kill people. We've been waiting for about a year, a few extra days won't hurt anybody. I think Amazon's dates are pretty reasonable.

The books should come around release, or a little after. I know that for the last 3 pre-releases I've ordered that the products (including KoTS) shipped earlier than they said it would AND the items got to me all on the release day, and this is with Standard shipping. Free shipping does, actually, add some days to this, in my experience, but standard hasn't. The posted date for me to receive the items was always several days after release but if you follow the Tracking button you can see the items get to you much quicker, and I've never had to wait until the actual predicted date posted on the site. At least with pre-releases.

I expect to get my books on the 6th from Amazon and no later than the 8th. If Tracking doesn't show the books as being in Phoenix come the day before release than I will go buy a PHB from the local hobby shop to read and keep as an extra.

With the Wizards Presents previews I received them a day before or the day of the street date.
With KotS, Amazon shipped on the 17th and I received it on the 19th.
I expect a similar situation with the core gift set, I should have it by the 7th at the latest.

That's why you never see a big line outside of long awaited movies when they first come out.

I tend to have a lot of luck with amazon. I always use the free shipping option and they always tend to ship it 1 to 3 days before they estimate, and since I live in southern NY state and the warehouse is in Jersey City, it generally takes only a couple of days after for it to arrive.

It really does depend on how far you are from the warehouse so YMMV.

I ordered KotSF from amazon with my prime account. And they shipped it so it actually arrived on the release day (Tuesday).

I had the same exact experience with my copy of KotS via Amazon, received it in the mail the same day it hit stores, using both pre-order and Prime.

I'm hoping for a similar experience with the box set.

The pre-order is a very nice deal, you get the box set for 45% off retail price, which puts the books about $20 per piece for me. Can't beat that.
