I am calling you mistaken. And now I am calling you smug, for claiming I don't know what mis-quoting means or that I didn't know how to find the word paraphrase. I said what I meant goldomark. You mis-quoted him. You quoted him incorrectly. That does not imply intent on your part. Here is what you mistakenly claimed he said, "If only one AP is released this year and I ask Mearls what happened cause he said two APs a year were supposed to be released, am I oppressing Mearls?" Here is what he actually said, "We're looking at two storylines a year." When someone says they are "looking at" something that covers years of a time span, that means that's their initial tentative plans - not a commitment. It does not mean if they don't go ahead with what they're looking at, that something was not done that was "supposed to" happen. That's you changing the tone of his sentence. I assume you did it by mistake, but you changed the tone to imply a firmer commitment than what was given. If you disagree, use it in an everyday sentence. If you ask me when I am planning to get to a party in a few weeks time, and I say, "right now I am looking at 8", that doesn't mean my failure to arrive by 8, I have failed to do something I was "supposed" to do. It means my initial plan that I was looking at changed at some point. It doesn't mean you can't ask me why my initial plan changed (though even asking might get a raised eyebrow), but to change the tone to be I was "supposed" to be there at 8 is an unwarranted presumption on your part. Nobody gave you any kind of firm commitment about the time I would arrive. This thing about taking vague hopes and tentative thoughts and plans from game designers and turning them into promises and commitment and rock solid pledges, it's BS. Doing that to designers is what causes them to say less - because they can never say anything without it being taken out of context, changed, and spun by people into different meanings. Intentional or not, I wish it would stop. If there are two ways or more to read a statement from a game designer concerning their future intentions for the game, just quote them directly instead of deciding on what you assume they mean and then re-stating it as if you know for sure that's what they mean. It seems to rarely turn out well when people paraphrase a game designer's statements concerning future plans for the game, because quote often people add their own spin and biases to the paraphrasing.
