When NPC's Kill your Boss

I have only ever NPc'ed a character for a PC twice. Both times, it has resulted in the death of a boss.

So the lesson learned, I won't NPC a Player character, because my bosses, seem to get killed by there creator.

Does this happen to anyone else?

That's the thing, I have only done it twice, and it was uisng there characters. When they missed a session. I just seem to roll really high when behind a PC's character sheet.

When I use my personal NPc's, I keep them out of fight entirely, unless I know they will need it. And even then it is a lower level NPC then the group.

I'd never run a PC. If the player can't be there, the player's character isn't there either. I have enough to do as the DM to run a PC, and it just doesn't sit right with me.

When my players arn't there, they are either run by another player, or enter the infamous "DM Rope trick" that follows the party around on their adventures. I have no time to run someone's character, and no way I would let them kill off a main NPC. This one falls under "DM Discretion".
