When Was Your Last 2e Experience?

When was the last time you played second edition?

Just curious. I guess for me it was Summer of 2000? Maybe 2001?

How about Basic... Man I think the last time I played Basic D&D was in like 93?

Never. My long hiatus away from gaming started months before 2E was released.

My last game before my long hiatus, was a 1E AD&D game which used the 1E Forgotten Realms "grey box". In those days, 1E Forgotten Realms was actually a cool "sandbox" setting.

2001, maybe? 3e was out, but I went to a local gaming store I had never been to before in order to play a game that was starting there. I hated it. That wasn't the system's fault though. The group played pretty freeform, with a sort of classic "dm screws with you" style of game. It was complete with vastly divergent levels of character power, and a kender.

Trying to remember specifically, but I do know it was less than 1 week prior to getting the 3e PHB and FR playtest materials. Once those were in hand, we went 3e and haven't looked back since. :)

Basic? Yikes. 6th grade, I think, which was... 1985? We were strictly AD&D soon after that.

My last game of 2e was around fall of 1998 I think. My last session of B/X D&D was in August, with another one coming up later this month.

This May. I went to visit a friend who had played in a long 2e campaign I ran and she wanted to play her old character; rather than try and convert I just ran 2e. Wrote a blog post on it - Some Thoughts On 2e and 3e’s Legacy « Geek Related. It was refreshing, and opened my eyes to some of the things that had crept in over a long time playing 3e. In my new Pathfinder campaign, I'm trying to make some changes to recapture a little more of the 2e feel.
