When you notice something's not right with the campaign...

We're looking at AC 51 for this particular encounter. So using your example - even with True Strike - the PC would have less than a 50% chance of landing a blow on it. Keep in mind that would be only a single attack per round, not likely enough to overcome the combined effects of the creature's DR and regeneration. Plus, what are the other 4 party members doing?

Here's the math I've figured out. 18th level fighter facing the encounter (a little higher than the module recommends). Here is the basics without any buffs or situation modifiers:
BAB +18, +5 magic weapon, +9 Strength, +2 Weapon Focus & Greater Weapon Focus, +4 weapon training. +38 to hit. A slightly worse than 50/50 chance.

But that's just one character (perfectly optimized under ideal circumstances) who has a chance. No one else in the party will come close. Forget about the paladin or rogue landing a hit. Spell resistance and awesome saves will shut down the sorcerer and cleric.

A sorcerer built using the Spell Compendium shouldn't have to worry about spell resistance. There's even some decent SR ignoring spells in the PHB - glitterdust, evard's black tentacles, cloudkill. Alternatively they can cast buffs and heals.

That sounds very familiar.

[sblock]The BBEG I'm thinking of has his stats reduced depending on accomplishments of the characters. AC 51 is only if they utterly fail to succeed at any task that would weaken him. If I'm thinking of the right BBEG you may want to read the section on him more thouroughly.[/sblock]

Sounds like the target is ripe for some serious targeted dispel magics/disjunction...

Like the others said, I wouldn't worry about it too much at this point.

In fact, I wouldn't worry about it until you're prepping for the actual encounter. Lots of things can happen in 8 levels.

Sounds like Age of Worms to me. If so:

[sblock]There is a massive (and IMO pretty cool) equalizer for the heroes built into the Adventure Path. As a player, I enjoyed it a lot.[/sblock]
