Whence the Romans?

I'm aware of the "Glory of Rome" book from 2nd edition. I've also seen the two story hours mentioned. I've been following the Alea Iacta story hour but am intimidated by the amount of "catch up" involved with Old One's. I have made my own "Pseudo-Rome" setting that looks something like "Classical" Rome and later Rome (the Byzantines) combined. I'm mostly just wondering why the period seems to have been overlooked.

I really disagree with the idea that Rome would need to be low magic. I don't think that's any more true than it is that any of the other pseudo-historical settings out there have to be low magic.

I have been "putting up a web site" for the last 2 years :p! I am, however, currently testing a site on my home computer with my brand spankin' new copy of MS Frontpage (since I am a web idiot). If all goes well, I am about a month away from a release.

I do have a bunch of files on my YahooGroups site (many somewhat outdated). You are more than welcome to join up to access them...just give me your e-mail address and I will send you an invite.
Great! Thanks! I just PMed you with my email address.

The Romans certainly didn't think it was low magic.

There was an old RPG system called "Man, Myth, and Magic" that was set in the 1st C. AD, mainly the Roman Empire, though it did have a few anachronistic elements here and there. The rule system was interesting, though the plot lines were a little goofy.

The boards won't let me PM you. Presumably because I'm not a community supporter.
