Where and on What do you Play?

A medium-sized dining room table an arms-reach from the kitchen. I leave tons of space behind the DM screen, I set up computer speakers hooked up to an iPod for soundtracking. 4e has cut the need for constant rules-reference at the table. That, combined with power cards, puts so much room on the table for the game mat. Table's probably not bigger than 3'x7' for 4 players and me.

The games I run here are on an oval dining-room table with a 3'x4' chalkboard elevated about 10" above it on little stands...we play on the board and keep character sheets, food, beer, etc. on the table under it. I DM from a couple of little folding tables off one end of the main table; the board takes up too much room for my screen to fit on there as well. Behind me is a bookshelf with far too many minis on it, along with various books, modules, etc. The kitchen is literally within arm's reach of at least one player.

The game I play in runs on a rec-room pool table with a ping-pong table on top of it (with the net removed, natch) - it's big enough that sometimes I need a foghorn for the DM to hear me (I sit at the far end). It's a self-comtained area; there's a beer fridge, sink, kettle for tea, etc. all right there.

We play in one of two places. Both are apartments, and incidentally the only places left where we can smoke inside ;). In both apartments we play at the dining table in the dining room, which has room for 8 people sitting down at it (we are usually 6 nowadays), and most of it is taken up by the battle mat, players and all their stuff. I just use a little corner where my papers are, hidden behind the DM's screen. I almost never open a book during play.

We have a big square dining room table. Heavy duty stuff, withstands dice rolling well. Since we very rarely actually *eat* at our dining room table, you will often find that the DM's screen, battle-mat, miniatures, and even dice remain in the exact same position as they were left, week-to-week! (Cleaning notwithstanding.)

We play in my living room. Chairs and couches - when we need a map we have a 3 by 4 whiteboard we just put on the floor. Whoever happens to be closest moves the character representations around (no minis, but coins or dice).

We are actually moving soon, and hope to have a game table in the new place. :)

We play in what the former owners of our house called a den and I have claimed as my game room on two 8x2 tables.

When we used to game at a friend's house, the players would sit at the dining room table and I would sit at the kitchen counter overlooking the dining room.

Couches and comfy chairs surrounding a coffee table that is covered with a battlemat... Nice and laid back. One of our players actually hates sitting around an actual table to play, though I really don't know why...

Where and on what do you guys play most of the time??
100% of the time at my house in our finished basement rec-room, on the 8x4 pool table with custom table cover. Seating is padded bar stools.

The home theater in the other part of the rec-room provides the music, via the HTPC and remote.
