Where are all the 5th Edition Events?

So I decided to go to genCon for the 5th Edition Launch -- I have not been since the 3rd Edition launch in 2000 -- and finally purchased my badge today. Lo and behold, there are next to no 5th Edition events! What gives? Where are all the DMs willing to use the Starter Set, the Basic PDF and some elbow grease to put together something awesome for launch?

I have run many a convention game and I am tempted to create some 5th Ed. events right now. But since there are NO non-WotC 5th Ed. events, I wonder if it is even allowed. It just seems so strange that no-one who has been running playtests for a long time or whatever is running a game.

Odds say they will be demos at Gen Con or a few last minute adds but not that much of a show. They do not even have a booth as far as I can tell.

What I'm wondering is -- is there any reason I can't submit a couple 5E events? I mean, I have run plenty of con games and I have time to get some low level Basic adventures written and tested, but is it kosher to run an unsanctioned 5E event?

no reason you can't, unless event submission is closed, I don't think it is, just may not make the book printing.

There's a fair amount of official gaming and launch activities, although, I think most of the events organized by WOTC were sold out almost immediately.

I will be plopping down at an Open Gaming table to run some 5E, I decided. You can follow the link in my sig for details.

I would have actually liked to do the All-Access pass, but by the time I found out it was even available it was gone. Very surprised that there is so little 5E, relatively speaking, as well.
