Where are the WotC Spell Templates?

Any chance you could bring them to the Game Day? I've looked at them online but would definitely be interested in checking them out up close.

They were already packed for that, but sure! Let me take credit for responding to a request. ;) (I don't have the cones yet though.)

On the back of the DnD miniatures mats they have the templates. Photocopy them and bring them to business depo and transfer them on to a clear laminate for very cheap.

Don't have the mats. And I don't feel like joining the RPGA and going through all the administrative hassle. All I wanna do is go out and buy the darn templates. You'd think WotC could accomodate such a simple request, especially since they'd be making money off it!

Here's a better suggestion. Grab a few wire coathangers, and a pair of pliers.

Steel Sqwire is just STUPIDLY overpriced, and they don't have a 30ft radius template for some reason.

You make a big assumption that Wizards would be making money off it.

One thing I want to do:

1. Get a glass table, like this one:

2. Stick a flat one-inch iron grid below the glass. No idea where to get that, though.

3. Then you can glue spell templates, warband tiles, etc. on flexible magnets like those used for fridge.

Minis are above, other elements are below. And glass is still the best dry erase material.

The product is being sold by 3rd parties, so it's not that big an assumption at all. And considering the fact that D&D is pushing their DDM line pretty hard, I think it's very poor business sense indeed to not give joe average DDM consumer the proper tools to play the game. Saying "oh, you just have to jump through this hoop or that hoop" doesn't cut it in my books. Either include them in starter DDM packs for everyone, sell them separately, or better yet have them for download from the WotC site. The latter wouldn't cost them a thing.

No, they're not. :) I don't have the time to grab coathangers, a soldering gun (which the SS templates obviously use), measure out one inch squares, get them just right to the templates in the DMG, and tweak them all together. I have a friend who made his own with zip ties. Not as sturdy by far, but it was a cheap solution. Anybody who can bend wire for me and save me tons of time adjudicating spell areas gets my bucks! :D

Get your DMG and a photocopier. There. Template.

The templates are already there. What are you complaining about?

If you want a nice coloured plastic templates (a luxury), then go to a third party, or join the RPGA, or get your retailer to get in a retailer kits, or visit maxminis and see if anyone there wants to trade or sell them.
