Where exactly is 4e Ravenloft?

Placing the Domains of Dread in the Shadowfell allows you to have "No Darklord's Land" between the domains, so you could have Vlad Drakov actually go to war against Azalin Rex and win a few battles.

Call me mad, but i can even see the new cover for a 4e Ravenloft - or "Domains of Dread I" as i would call it - trying to describe all Domains in one go is silly and just leads to shallow fluff:

A ghostly hand, holding a string of pearls that float inside a dark, shadowy mist. Inside of the pearls you see tiny figures moving, trying to get out, achieve something... and failing.

Oh, and another thing thats good about the new arrangement: its much easier to stumble into one domain, solve something, stumble out again. Older Ravenloft always seemed to expect: "youre in, now jump on the Domain Train (TM) and visit all these strange lands before you - perhaps - can get back to Faerun/Wherever."

This is slightly off topic...

In reading this thread (and others), it seems to me that, with the shadowfell adventures, and the distinct themes presented in the core books (like the Feywild, Fallcrest, etc..), that Wizards have a solid basis for a pretty nifty setting on their hands.

I for one would love to see a campaign guide to the Shadowfell as well as more info on the Feywild.

I'd love to see Ravenloft placed squarely in the Shadowfell in a more official capacity.

ok I'm starting to ramble. I need more coffee.. or maybe I need more sleep?

hmmm..

That's a cool idea. Hum, the 'land between' could also host a number of anti-darklord forces (though they need not be forces for good). Perhaps there is a gloomy war for dominance going on down there.

And note that the Domains of Dread, being in the Shadowfell, are also subject to that plane's gloomy effect on someone's disposition (akin to 2E's Gray Waste, from Planescape).

From what we've heard The Plane Below is a book about the elemental chaos.

I can't remember... Did ravenloft have a set number of domains?

I wonder if they kind iof want to keep it like the astral sea. The domains can change as needed.
