Where is Christopher Perkins in all this?

Agree on the adventures part. I really want to see the new edition embrace lots of adventures. Not one series of slightly linked adventures and then give in.

His DM XP columns have certainly struck a chord with many players (esp DMs). Not only does he write well (and appears to run a brilliant game), but I would like to see more advice on how to DM and do things make into the DMG (or whatever it is).
Yes, the DM Experience column is my favorite thing to read on the web site every week. It is too cool.

Wow, Kim Mohan. I think he has to be one of the only people from the TSR days still working at WOTC. And not just the late TSR days, either, but fairly early ones.

Miranda Horner has also been there since the TSR days I think?

Anyway, CP's name is conspicuous by its absence but that probably means he just isn't on the design or development staff... there's nothing to say he won't contribute heavily to the game once it's actually in print.

If nothing else Chris's live celebrity sessions have been one of the great highlights of this era of the game, and they need to continue!

Like the OP, I think Perkins was crucial to garner positive vibes about 4E online. The Penny Arcade act, in particular, now in its third year, was nothing short of amazing. I will note in passing that Penny Arcade has been rather skeptical of 5E so far, just as they were lukewarm about Essentials. I don't begrudge them - it seems like they've found a game they genuinely like, so why take it from them? If nothing else, a Penny Arcade video podcast of them playing 5E seems a bit unlikely at this point.

On to the main point...

Having looked at 'The Team' on the Wizards Community, I did not see CP's name there?

Oh, there's quite a number of names that were left out in that list - James Wyatt, for instance.

For reference, here is the team that makes 5E:

Mike Mearls, Team Lead
Greg Bilsland, Team Producer
Monte Cook, Design Team Lead
Bruce Cordell, Designer
Robert J. Schwalb, Designer
Jeremy Crawford, Development Team Lead
Tom LaPille, Developer
Rodney Thompson, Developer
Miranda Horner, Editor
And here's the team that made 4E:

D&D® 4th Edition Design Team
Rob Heinsoo, Andy Collins, James Wyatt

D&D 4th Edition Final Development Strike Team
Bill Slavicsek, Mike Mearls, James Wyatt

Player’s Handbook Design
Rob Heinsoo, Andy Collins, James Wyatt
Player’s Handbook Development
Andy Collins, Mike Mearls, Stephen Radney-MacFarland,
Peter Schaefer, Stephen Schubert

Player’s Handbook Editing
Michele Carter, Jeremy Crawford

Player’s Handbook Managing Editing
Kim Mohan

Additional Design and Development
Richard Baker, Greg Bilsland, Logan Bonner, Bart Carroll,
Michele Carter, Jennifer Clarke Wilkes, Bruce R. Cordell,
Jeremy Crawford, Jesse Decker, Michael Donais, Robert
Gutschera, Gwendolyn F. M. Kestrel, Peter Lee, Julia
Martin, Kim Mohan, David Noonan, Christopher Perkins,
Matthew Sernett, Chris Sims, Ed Stark, Rodney Thompson,
Rob Watkins, Steve Winter, Chris Youngs

Director of R&D, Roleplaying Games/Book Publishing
Bill Slavicsek

D&D Story Design and Development Manager
Christopher Perkins

D&D System Design and Development Manager
Andy Collins

D&D Senior Art Director
Stacy Longstreet
I bolded Chris Perkins' position. There are two possibilities here:

1. Like "Senior Art Director", Perkins' position does not show up in the 5E credits. That doesn't mean he won't work on 5E, just as the absence of a senior art director doesn't mean that 5E won't have one (or won't have art).

2. It's an early sign of Perkins' getting the axe next year.

While I think "1." is more likely than "2.", personally I find it alarming enough that Perkins doesn't show up in the 5E team, when other people with far less track record do. Pari passu for Wyatt.

Really? could you please provide a link where they expressed their opinion on 5E?
Not that I don't believe you, it's that i couldn't find it and I'm interested. Thank you in advance.

I know their cartoon on it was more skeptical on whether WotC can pull off "all-inclusion", same as the rest of us, just more funny:

Penny Arcade - The Way Forward
Penny Arcade - The Way Forward

But more than this, I haven't seen, myself.

Having been a fan of his campaign posts on the WOTC website, and a big fan of Shackled City AP, I hope that his lack of design credits will allow him to playtest with his groups and come up with a great AP line for the new edition.
