Where is Ed's Castlemourn campaign book?

Nefrast

First Post
The hardcover book for Ed Greenwood's new setting Castlemourn was scheduled to be released in November 2006.

But both, Amazon in UK and Germany state that they "are currently unable to offer this title. It may be out of stock with the publisher or out of print." The website of the publisher Margaret Weis Production haS no information about any products at all.

Does anyone know some news? Is the book rescheduled for release next year or is the project dead already? I was not able to find any news about this. Thanks.

If you go to dragonlance.com, click on the store, then Product Overview, then scroll down and click Castlemourn, there's a section where you can order the Player's Guide and/or preorder the full campaign setting (however, no release date is listed).

I'd provide a direct link, but the store site uses frames. :-\

I haven't checked Amazon U.S. for the Player's Guide lately, but last time I loooked they didn't have it either.

Yes, I have the Player's Guide already and like it very much, hence my interest on the actual campaign book. It's actually on the last page of that guide where they say "November 2006".

However, the full-featured setting itself is set for a 2007 release date at this point, from what I remember the MWP folks saying about it.
It there somewhere a public place where MWP announce such things?

I was a little bit concerned because I remember that some other company wanted to release Castlemourn a couple of years ago, but it never happened... Hopefully this will not repeat itself. Must be frustrating for Ed Greenwood too.

I have it preordered and it was originally supposed to be out in November. It's release has been pushed back a third time and I am supposed to see it in the middle of January but we'll see.

I'm really interested in this, but no way am I putting down a preorder payment until I see that the product is actually coming out. I collect interesting settings (even if I never actually run them). From the earliest days, Ed Greenwood's depth had me on Forgotten Realms. So I hope this comes out.

Just a query, whats your view on the glowing elves?

personally I was thinking the elves did that to make others think "Oh look walking target!" and when they did they discover its an illusion but noones survived to let anyone else know...

But half elves too?

Any answers on why?
And have you checked out that other Castlemourn story called the Tree of Swords?

I like it. I remember that when Tolkien's Hobbits from The Lord of the Rings encountered elves the very first time at night in the forest, the elves are described as if they shine of their own light. When I read the elves entry in Castlemourn's players guide I was instantly reminded of that scene.

The penalty for hide checks don't bother me at all as long as the flavor of the race is good. I am sure there are ways to get the glowing into control, like cloaks of darkness, spells, or just heavy clothes. But I suppose elves in Castlemourn are not among the stealthiest races.

Why not?

Yes, that's how the Forgotten Realms started, as a background for Ed Greenwoods stories and I hope he will have many many more Castlemourn stories to be told.

For everyone interested, Tree of Swords can be downloaded for free at the Game Trade Magazine.

I just saw that there is already a forth part available, which I have yet to read.
