Where is the Barbarian?

Sorry if I'm a bit behind, but I keep running into references to the Barbarian class in Dragon Magazine. I look & look, but do not find it.

Can someone link me to it please?

As Remathilis said, though originally scheduled for this month, it appears to have been pushed to next month.

But it should be noted that once it does appear in Dragon Magazine, it will just be a playtest version (so not necessarily the final version).

And, even then, it may just be a preview, like the FRPG did for the swordmage only showing the first three levels but two different built options. Or it could just be one build option, the equivalent of showing the archer ranger from 1-30 powers but not showing the two-weapon build choice. Or some combination there of...

My point, when it does appear, it's not necessarily going to be the final and complete thing that will eventually show up in the PHB 2 -- but it'll show you the direction and give you something to play with for a bit.

Do we need a "barbarian"? What more is a barbarian than an impoverished fighter? Why give them special rules? Those who want to charge their foes with primitive weapons and armor are free to do so. The finely wrought armor and weapons of civilization will deal with them as any other savage. Perhaps the 'barbarian' will be able to read the future he won't be part of from his own spilled entrails.

Perhaps because people want to play a character in a loin cloth and still be effective? that why i would want to have a separation at least. Theirs also the whole rage thing... but i think that's only a minor concern. The loin cloth issue is obviously the more important problem with fighters being barbarians.

The loin cloth is cruical. Obviously, no Barbarian should leave home without it (we want to keep our ESRB rating), but he shouldn't need more, either.

I hope that the Adventurers Vault II or the PHB II will contain magical loin clothes (and chain mail bikins for female barbarians?).

;) :D

That would be awesome. +1 Lion Loin Cloth of... Remove Disease?

The difference between the Fighter and the Barbarian for abilities and direction will probably be control. A Fighter is trained to fight in a certain way and has abilities that are planned. The Barbarian, though, will probably have savage abilities that are in tune with the idea that they flip out and just go nuts and kill everything in the area. Or is that ninjas?
