Where is your FLGS? Is it near an interstate?

Today I'm sitting in Breezewood PA about 130 miles outside of Baltimore and I'm wondering if I could have dropped in to chat or for a game of D&D. What I really need is a list of FLGS's (Favorite Local Gaming Stores) that I can reach.

So, I figured I'd ask you folks where I could find your stores. Here are my criteria - it has to be near an interstate and I need to be able to reach it with a 80' long 10' wide semi-truck. Basically, if it shares a parking lot with a Wal Mart, Sears or major mall I can reach it. If it doesn't, I can't.

I don't want to travel more than 2 miles off the interstate, and make that 1 mile if you live in New England (The states up there write $300 fines if you wonder off the interstate). I'm willing to walk a fair distance, so if you give me directions to a nearby supermarket I can walk the rest of the way.

Look for "no trucks" signs. Please, please don't get me in trouble. Also, I'm 13' 6" high, so if there is a 12' 0" bridge on the way, that's a problem. Use a little common sense - if you see trucks delivering to Sears across the street, then I should be able to get there. Watch their movements - malls often have specific entrances for the trucks making deliveries and I'll have to use that entrance.

That's a strange, strange request, Michael...at least for those of us who don't know your particular situation!

I'm not too far away from you, in Pittsburgh, and sadly, of the stores I know here, none of them are very near an interstate. One's in the heart of Oakland and the other would not be easily accessible by truck either.

Clearly you need a motorcycle dock inside your secret mobile base!

The closest game store to me isn't that far from a motorway.

All you have to do is attach wings to your truck...

I could point you towards a few stores if you're ever in the Midwest, but I don't know anything about the east coast.

Hmm.... I have a possibility. I think it's a bit more than 2 miles off... but it would be worth the trip! It's called Mayhem Collectables in Ames, IA. You'd probably be on I:35 going north or south. Take the Ames exit, highway 30 going west toward Newton. Get off at the Elwood Dr. Exit. Go until you reach Lincoln Way. Take a left. You'll have to go a fair piece until you reach Welch Ave, in Campustown (Ames is the home of Iowa State University). Turn right, toward the campus. On your left you'll see a large loading dock for a huge brick dorm. You could probably get away with parking there for a while.

Walk back to the Welch/Lincon Way intersection. Cross Lincoln Way, and walk west. Mayhem has a large blue awning with a painting of Batman over Gotham city over it. Mayhem carries a huge selection of RPG books of over a dozen gaming systems, a large number of board games, a large card game selection, a large comic book selection, funky t-shirts, miniatures, stuffed animals, dice, gaming/trading card magazines, and boasts a very knowledgeable staff that orders stuff. And they rent anime movies.

It's probably longer out of your way than you want to go, but if you make it, enjoy!

I run all 48 states pretty much at random, though I tend to be in the south more than anywhere else.

I don't think you can park at the university dock for hours, but I have an idea. Just up Lincoln Way is a Taco Bell. They have a pretty big parking lot (large enough for a semi). You could probably put it there. Mayhem doesn't run a lot of D&D games (though they do a ton of card games).

There's a second store in Ames, much smaller, that hosts both role-playing and card games at the store. I'm in two role-playing games there myself. They have a tiny selection, but usually have most of the most popular stuff from D&D, Vampire, Werewolf, and a few other systems. And everything's 10% off. To get there (PC Dungeon), go ahead and do the I-35 to highway 30 thing, but get off at the Duff exit instead of the Elwood. Go along Duff until you hit Lincoln Way, turn left. Go a short piece until you see Kellogg, turn right. There's a couple of very large public parking lots to your left and right once you go over the railroad tracks. Hopefully you could park there. On Kellogg St, just north of the eastern parking lot, you'll see stairs going down and a small blue awning. That's PC Dungeon.

It's not far from the US 81/US 83 split, and normally a high travelled route from anywhere south that isn't on 95 (which leads to philly).

The parking lot there isn't real big, but a few blocks away is an old abandoned store with a decent parking lot, and I'm sure nobody would complain about a few hours.
