Where to get individual minis in the UK?

I've been shipping overseas orders from the U.S. for several years now. I wasn't going to promote myself in this thread, but seeing as how Auggies and Troll & Toad are being mentioned, I suppose I should mention my own minis store. Troll & Toad keeps buying out my inventory to resell on their site, so my stock on older minis is a little low at the moment. But I should be restocking my inventory in the next week or two.

Oh, and I'm very familiar with international shipping, so customs is not an issue.
And I will add that I have ordered from Oryan several times and have always been 100% satisfied (and no problems with customs :);))

You shouldn't hesitate to promote yourself in this thread, it's only nice for potential customers to know of alternative sellers. When Lords of Madness is released, I'm going to check your site to compare prices. You might get some extra business around 21. september.

If this procedure is a bit bizarre, it's probably not really Auggies fault.
International shipping is extremely hard to figure up a general shipping charge when shipping minis & books. I tried to come up with a shipping guide on my website for international shipping. It's pretty close, but not perfect. I still end up paying for shipping out of my own pocket on a lot of international orders when the shipping is more than what I charged. The problem is, we can raise the shipping charge a lot to cover big orders, but then smaller orders will be overpaying shipping by a lot (and it won't be worth it to the buyer).

That's why sellers may not give you a quote on shipping. They won't know a proper charge until the order is packed and they don't want to lose out on shipping. It's not a big deal if you charge $4 shipping on a U.S. order and the shipping is actually $5 or $6. But it is very possible to actually lose money on an international order (a seller might make $20 profit on the order, but charged $15 shipping and the shipping ended up costing the seller $35).

Well the OP specifically asked for non U.S. sellers & mentioned he was already aware of good U.S. sellers. I didn't want to be annoying. :p
But those U.S. sellers already get 99% of the referrals on every gamer forum. It's hard to compete with that, so I figured I'd shame myself just so I'm not left out. :o

The LoM set looks really nice; I have a good feeling about it. So I've placed a larger than normal order for them to sell on my site (large for me, peanuts to other sellers). I've even been trying to sell cases. So if you looked me up during the release, that would be fantastic! :D

Now that the distribution model with the very rares has been revealed, can you give an indication as to what the minis will cost for this set?

Auggies is the prefered place to get minis for most americans, it seems. When I asked Auggies for shipping prices to Europe, I got a bizarre answer that he couldn't really say, and that I shouldn't bother to order from him at all. This was a couple of years back. Troll & Toad's prices are sometimes a little bit higher than Auggie's prices and sometimes a little bit lower.

A bit out of context...the standard email reponse says that you shouldn't place an order if you are unwilling to pay the shipping. We know our shipping is a bit strange but our profit is built into the cost of the figs NOT shipping. We are very proud of our international shipping rates which in the end works out to cost you EXACTLY what it costs us +$2. Below is the standard reply we give when an international customer emails and asks.

International shipping- Actual cost of postage +$2
Shipping for both our PROSTORE and Ebay store end up being the same but the procedure is different. The cost to you will end up being exactly THE COST OF ACTUAL POSTAGE +$2.

EBAY ORDERS- When finished buying items request and invoice from us and we will add an estimate of shipping. We almost always overcharge on this estimate then when we fill the order and package it we will send a refund for any overcharge once we know the actual amount of postage

PROSTORE- Add items to your cart until your done shopping then checkout and pay as normal. Once we fill the order we will send you a second invoice for the actual shipping that it costs us +$2 (and we subtract any paid on the original invoice as domestic). We cannot know the cost until we fill the order and your order WILL NOT SHIP until the 2nd invoice is paid. PLEASE DO NOT ORDER IF YOU ARE UNWILLING TO PAY THE SHIPPING. It’s a lot of work to fill and order then have to sort it back and return it to the storage area . If you are worried about it being too much then we just prefer you not order and we cannot guess how much it will be until filled.

I had a similar experience, so I gave up trying to order auggies to the UK. I ordered auggies while on holiday in the US once and several minis were missing, for which I was charged, OTOH what I did get was still good value.

We cannot fix errors we don't konw about and we do make them from time to time (that pesky being human thing and all). Shoot me an email with what the issue was and we'll take care of it. It doesn't matter if it was shipped to US and your in the UK (or somewhere else) and I'm not worried if it took place a year ago. We have this strange notion you should get what you paid for here (radical idea, I know! :p).

Yes, but Auggies, you don't tell us what the actual cost of postage is when we place the order? Can't you estimate it in your ordering software and charge that? You could prob even estimate on the high side, make a profit on average, and still get a lot more overseas orders.

I'm not a gambler, I'm not going to commit to paying some unknown sum. You're in a much better position to calculate P&P than your customers are.

Not really, the host software we use is kinda weak to be honest. Plus we have had this same policy for a 4 or 5 years now and overal quite happy with it. Only a handful of questions about it really.

The vast majority of the time customers are very pleased once they find out the shipping since it isn't padded. The way we set prices overal we HAVE to make back shipping though. As an example, we clear about 10% on an order (this is rough aprox and varies a bit but not by more than +/- 5%) so on a $200 order we make about $20

One order of say 125 of the new Rime hounds, a huge figure from the new set, would cost around $200 of which we would make about $20, the postage on mailing that many would be well in excess of $100 as it would weigh A LOT. It would most likely have to be broken down into 2 or more shipments.

Now say you wanted 6 Drizzt from Archfiends. The total would still be $200 (and we would still make about $20 profit) but shipping would likely be $6-$12 range.

Now both of these orders if cancelled because of shipping cost wouldn't overly bother me since they both are extreamly easy to pull then put back but imagine an order of $200 with all different commons 1 of these at $.33 x5 of another at $.25 x2 of this piece at $.59 and so on. It could take up to an hour to pull the order then another hour to put it back if cancelled. That's 2 man hours of labor (which other than product is the bulk of our costs) for nothing.

I'm honestly not trying to be argumentive or combative, it's just after MUCH trial and error this system works best and is exceedingly fair for both me and the customer.

On shipping - as Obin Wan said, you must do what you feel to be right, of course. :)

On my order - I think it was April 2009, maybe $5 missing on a $70 order. I still felt I'd made out like a bandit compared to UK prices - eg I got a big bunch of troglodyte brawlers at 25 cents each! All I can remember about missing figs was I was disappointed not to get a Wraith I was looking forward to. Don't worry about it, I never had any reason to think you'd not have sorted it if I'd contacted you, but I was much too busy.

This is currently what I have. To my knowlage I'm the only one with singles up yet and I've only had around 50 or so unique customers place orders (many have placed multiple orders as the price tweeking occures but I'm only counting them once). There will be more tweeking and no clue what will happen when the other single sellers jump in (which I bet is soon)

Average for cagagory
HVR $34
HR $6.81
HUn $1.81

VR's (non huge) $7.99
Rares $3.19
Un $1.36
Commons $.49

Of note is that the slowest moving cataogries are Huge uncommons and normal (non huge) Rares. As other hotter pieces climb these two catagories will likely be where prices drop the most.
