• NOW LIVE! Into the Woods--new character species, eerie monsters, and haunting villains to populate the woodlands of your D&D games.

Where to start for the budding Lovecraftian?

My faves are:
The Case of Charles Dexter Ward-a short novel that the movie, The Resurrection, was based on.
At The Mountains of Madness-another short novel which was the progenitor of probably the best long adventure/short campaign for CoC ever, Beyond The Mountains of Madness.
The Rats In The Walls-makes you want to own lots of cats.
The Call of Cthulhu-the story that gave one of the best rpgs ever it's name.
The Dunwich Horror-the name Whateley is forever cursed after this.
The Whisperer In Darkness-a solid story about the main villains of Delta Green.

Some other good Cthulhu stories are the Delta Green short story compilitions from Pagan Publishing. Dark Theatres and Alien Intelligence have some great takes on the modern-day Cthulhu Mythos. Well worth checking out...

Got "Bloodcurdling tales of horror and the macabre" at Waldenbooks today, a collection of his stories including Call of Cthulu.

....

I'm going up to NH for Mother's day, so I'll have nothing to do at night except read that...

I hope The Shadow Over Innsmouth is in that collection--it's his best story.

Although The Thing on the Doorstep is growing on me. Which, I guess, is better than The Colour Out of Space growing on me! :D
