"Alright then Shawn, do me a favor then. Give me a good reason to buy Magic."

First of all, I did not work on Magic. The only book I've worked on in the "Topic" line is the upcoming Good. So my perspective on Magic is limited to the brief glance I got at a friend's copy a few weekends ago. That glance, however, was enough to prompt me to order a copy for myself from the company store. I just did that today, actually.

My admittedly brief look at the book immediately brought the chapters on Ki Magic and Forge Magic to my attention. These are really interesting concepts that I've been interested in previously. Ki Magic is an intriguing mix of monk and magic, which is perfect for my tastes because I enjoy the monk class a lot. Forge Magic is something I've been toying with in my own campaign and I was -very- excited to see what they're doing with it in Magic. Other chapters that I thought really interesting included Chronomancy and Rune Magic.

And since I'm talking to a fellow Scarred Lands addict, I might point out that I thought Forge Magic would fit in perfectly for worshipers of Corean and Goran. Rune Magic would also apply very well to Goran as well, and Ki Magic strikes me as a very Hedrada-oriented concept. And I haven't even considered the demi-gods, but Shadow Magic matches Drendari and Flesh Magic matches Idra very well, don't you think? :)

How's that?

Very good Shawn! Certainly you gain an additional XP bonus for telling me how I might use this in a Scarred Lands campaign. :D And do tell me more about Good. I'm interested in seeing both sides of the story.

(Btw Glad to see you have good taste in settings. ;) )

Know your audience, I always say.

I came on to the Good scene rather late, so I wasn't involved with many of the other authors except for Mike Mearls and Steve Crow. I worked on some spells and magic items, and what I've seen from Mike and Steve looks, of course, fantastic. I'm really looking forward to seeing the final product.

Of course! I work on Rokugan, after all. ;)

It is good to know that SOME publishers pay attention to their potential customers.

Ah well, hope springs eternal... maybe someday there will be information about its imminant release.

If you want something else while holding your breath ;)

From Bastion Press

Egyptian Gods

Greek Gods

free Norse Gods

Also by WotC Deities&Demigods feature some info on those 3 religion.

Natural 20 press plans to release:

Mythic Earth by RangerWicket and the girl that work with scott on the creature catalog.

I think Mythic Earth is the book that will cover your needs, but it isn't out yet.

I've seen Deities and Demigods. It's one of the biggest reasons I've been so desperate to get "Faces". I've got every previous edition going all the way back to the booklet "God, DemiGods and Heros" for OD&D. While each has shown improvements over the earlier works, at this rate we'll be playing D&D 8th edition before WotC gets it right.

What I need is not God/monsters to throw at the party, but the dogma, holidays, sins, and virtues and the prestege classes, domains and favored weapons to make believable characters.

That "Mythic Earth" sounds like it just might fit the bill. I will look closely at it when it reaches my FLGS.

I think that the book from Bastion press fit what you need (the Deities&Demigods was just to remind you that you had the domains and favored weapons for each of those gods), you should look the free Norse Gods one.

Also, be warned that the book from bastion press and mythic earth are all curently PDF only (natural 20 books tend to get printed 6 month after their PDF release, with errata and bonus material that e-customer will never see).
