Inspired by the "safest place in FR" thread...

Where's the safest place to live in the World of Greyhawk?

I'm voting for Niole Dra in Keoland.

Nothing seems to ever happen there. Hell, Keoland were even late to the Greyhawk Wars (which are retconned out of existence, I know.)

I have read some stuff to suggest that Keoland is built on the remains of Vecna's empire, but I'm not sure if that's canon or not.

As far as I can tell nothing interesting has happened there since the post-Rain of Colourless Fire migrations.

The High Quarter of the Free City of Greyhawk - as home of the City Watch it has regularly patrols as well as the Wizards Guildhall andd a number of powerful individuals and embassies that keep security tight - just dont venture into the old city.

I come from Niole Dra, and loads happens there!
Farmer Apricot punched one of the judges at last year's marrow-judging contest, and the Widow Vinegar's dog bit one of Hamo Stare's boys just last week. And we had a hailstorm. It's just non-stop danger in Niole Dra nowadays!
In fact, I'm thinking of moving soon. just for a quieter life. My second cousin thrice-removed lives in a lovely little village called Hommlet, where nothing ever happens....

Depends on your timeline, really, since everywhere has had strife at some time since the Twin Cataclysms. Additionally, banditry and monsters are semi-common, even in "civilized" nations. Major cities are going to have thieves guilds and assassins guilds, so they have their own dangers.

If I had to pick a place and time to be safest, I'd go with the Lortmil Mountains in 576 CY (the original starting year). The Hateful Wars are decades past, with the evil humanoids driven off to the Pomarj. Most monsters would have been driven off or slain during this campaign, so there's not a lot of threats.

If I had to pick a specific location, I'd go with Enstad, the capital of Celene. While they participated in the Hateful Wars, the city itself has been isolated from conflict for centuries.

I was going to post, but the OP choose the spot I would pick too. :)
Perhaps the Yeomanry is even safer.
I wouldn't call Enstad safe - those court intrigues can be vicious!
Also elves in my game are fairly racist, but that is just in my game.
The City of Greyhawk is safe, it has plot armor, But people in the City of Greyhawk do NOT have plot armor! :)

I too play my elves pretty racist. Non elves won't find Celene very welcoming. Elves, on the other hand would find it pretty safe and quiet.

Agree on the City of Greyhawk. Plenty of ways for a PC to get shivved there. But the City itself is eternal.

Does Yeomanry get caught up in the Against the Giants kerfuffle? Can't remember...

Enstad is only ringing a vague bell. Something from Dungeon magazine?
