Which are the major RPG rule systems?

I'm working on some sort of survey for a local RPG project, and one of the questions will be which RPG systems are played by the person taking the survey. I would like to present a list of the biggest/best known systems and then offer an "other" option. So, what are the most important systems out there?

- D20
- D20 Modern
- World Of Darkness
- Gurps
- ... ?

I would be inclined to add the following systems as well:

Rifts/Palladium

Big Eyes Small Mouth

And since you're adding in various D20 sub-systems:
Mutants and Masterminds

Star Wars (both D20 and WEG)

Everquest

Spycraft

These, along with the others that you have mentioned seemed to be getting the most play time in my area.

Don't forget Hero System (and/or Champions).

Also, the system used by Eden Studios for Buffy and Angel is quite popular, but I've forgotten the generic name for it.

That's called the Storyteller system.

Another system: FUDGE.

Original D&D (1974) the only true game. All the other editions are just poor imitations of the real thing.

I think D20 is probably suitable instead of asking for all the D20 variants...
because there are a fair few...

Hero
Rifts/Palladium
Other, Please Specify:

If you want much more than this, you might be better with a question, a few examples, and a blank area for people to write in.

I'd also consider adding Guardians of Order's dx system (also called Tri-Stat) and West End Game's d6 system.
