Which are the major RPG rule systems?

Chaosium’s B.asic R.ole P.laying system [d% / d00] . Used in Call of Cthulhu and most other chaosium releases. Simple, to the point and incredibly customizable. Skills increase by being used and weapons are nice and lethal.

CODA, used by the Lord of the Rings RPG and the latest Star Trek RPG.

Due to lack of support and poorly written rules, however, I think this system will be dying soon.

Well, here in germany you'd have to count DSA (Das Schwarze Auge - there is also an english name for this, but I'm not really aware of it...) and Midgard (pretty cool game system, too) as well.
