Which book(s) 'did it' for you?

I never had an epiphany so to speak; I just kinda gradually moved into the style of gaming I liked.

Someone mentioned the Warlock of Firetop Mountain; Forest of Doom and City of Thieves were much more influential to me. I guess I liked the wilderness and urban adventures much better than dungeoncrawls, even then.
 

I must be the odd-ball. For me it was:

Choose Your Own Adventure Books

Yes, for me, before I even heard of DND, I always enjoyed being a "player" within a story. After reading nearly the entire series, I wanted more. I wanted a game where there was "unlimited" choices and you could do almost anything.

Enter the DND BASIC Red Box.

And while it was D&D module B10 that triggered my epiphany, I too began with Steve Jackson's Sorcery books, followed by the series put out with Ian Livingstone.

Followed by the Expert Set (because my mate Micah already had the Basic Set), the Companion Set and the Master Set.

Then my mum got me the AD&D (1e) Oriental Adventures book. I totally loved it, but seriously wondered at the little rule differences (between D&D and AD&D).
