What Power Source & Role Class Combo Would You Like to See from 3PPs?

So I'm wondering what class concepts (power source and role combo) you would like to see designed by 3PP (3rd Party Publishers) in the upcoming year?

I know a few of these are covered in the PHB, but I fugured I'd include every concept and let you all decide.

Also when you choose a class combo feel free to elaborate on your specific vision of what fits into that category.

Personal Opinion:

I really would like to see the Primal and Ki power sources explored, but first I'd like to see classes that "fill in" the "missing" class concepts from the PHB, except perhaps the martial controller (which would be interesting, but the Martial Handbook is coming out very close to Oct. 1st so I think 3PP might be better served delving into the other class concepts).

I voted "other," because none of the options appealed to me and I have an obsessive compulsion to vote in polls.

I'm not interested in seeing power source/role combinations. I'm interested in seeing character archetypes. If filling the classic character archetypes of fantasy resulted in dozens of martial defenders and zero divine strikers, then I'd be fine with that. I don't like looking at character classes at this level of mechanical precision, I prefer to judge how interesting they are based on a more general level of theme and archetype rather than mechanic.

I completely understand... I was just using the shorthand given to us by our overlor... our friends at WotC... so what archetypes would you like to see?

I'd like to see the barbarian, bard, ninja and swordmage for a variety of reasons, some of them because I just want to see what people can come up with for them ;)

I'd like to see the blanks filled in.
Those martial/arcane/divine roles the PHB doesn't cover.
Mostly out of curiousity for some of them.

I voted other because I am most excited to see the Psionic Classes. I am also curious as to which power source Eberron's Artificer will be tied to. I love Psi and I wonder that now that they have the chance, if they will make Psionics more different from magic. Here's wishing.

I voted Divine Striker/Controller, Arcane Leader, and Primal Leader/Striker. I would've voted Psionic if that was the option.

It depends on how things hash out, but what I might want to see is 3rd-party takes on/ additions to the core classes in the PHB.

Well, after 30 votes it seems like Martial Controller is the winner. Other favored concepts (and my idea of what they'll look like) include...

Probably in PHB II
Arcane leader (Bard)
Primal controller (Sorcerer)
Primal striker (Druid)

Opportunities for 3rd parties
Martial controller (Monk? Knight? Swashbuckler? Who knows?)

Divine controller (Mystic, a wild-eyed prophet outside of the heterodoxy of the temples seeking union with the divine through meditation/ascetic practice, issuing foreboding omens, parting seas, calling lightning and storms, turning sticks to snakes)

Divine striker (Investigative infiltrator/holy slayer type, who works within the temple but is at the same time above its laws, reporting to highest temple authorities, could be a fanatic assassin, an intrepid cult-breaker, or wheeling and dealing inquisitor)

I voted Other since there was no none option. We don't need another game filled with needless classes.

But since 4e classes seem to have pretty tight niches, and multiclassing seems to be more of a 'dabbling' thing than a 'create a mish-mash of two or more classes' thing, there's going to be a lot of need for classes beyond PH1, I think.

I didn't vote, because I'm not sure what the biggest need will be. I'd want 3rd parties to look at what fantasy archetypes are hard to build with PH1 classes and 4e-style multiclassing, and go from there. I'd also like WotC to get a final list of PH2 classes (with power source and role) out ASAP to cut down on duplicates (because despite third parties' best efforts, it's unlikely that a 3rd party class is going to compete well with a WotC class of the same name, even if the 3rd party class is better).

I suspect another controller (probably divine or a new power source) would be a good idea, because there's only the one in PH1 (wizard). I suspect another martial striker is not an urgent need; Rogue and Ranger cover a lot. But other than that, it's hard to tell.
