Which edition poll for October

What are you playing now?

  • Poll closed .
I need multiple options.

The most regular game I run right now is 4e, so I picked that. I'm also playing in a bi-monthly 4e game.

Every few weeks, we do a quick two-session episode of a Call of Cthulhu d20 campaign.

In theory once a month, I'm running 1e as well.

4e in every campaign here (no surprise I am guess) but I must admit that I would love to start a monthly/bi-weekly 1e or OD&D dungeonhack on the side. Unfortunately my players have been brain-washed all too well ;)

Huh? Normally the hypocrisy is at least broken up over multiple posts.
I'm not sure you know what hypocrisy means. Usually a hypocrite says something and then does something else. That hasn't happened here.

I merely pointed out that saying this poll favors 4e when it actually disproportionately favors games like Pathfinder is silly.

And, just to clarify, this poll isn't about "market share", it is about ENWorld response. (And yes, it doesn't really offer much for that either)
No, it's not about market share. But someone claimed that there was a slant in readership, and I took that to mean a slant compared to the rest of the gaming population (in which case market share suddenly does have relevance).

Pathfinder as a player I find it enjoyable, but I miss Heroforge :( It plays close enough to 3.5 to be easy for me to understand, but I also find that I am constantly looking at the book because I want to be certain of the spells and feats.

4E is my system of choice, particularly as DM, but even as a player. Not having to lug books with me every time I want to go play is really nice, and I usually just lug around my PHB for quick rules references. DMing, encounter building, and making things up on the fly have never been easier for me.

I really enjoy branching out. 4e is scratching my new-school D&D itch very well these days, but I have yet to meet a single game which handles everything I want as well as I want.

Just like I found during my 3e days, I think playing several games and switching between them makes all my games better. 1e focuses on improvisation, the environment, big sandboxy adventures, and creative problem solving from a player standpoint. Cthulhu (the way I run it) is fairly plot-heavy and character-driven, with a sense of danger I usually don't find in D&D of any edition.

Not only does my group get to sample a lot of gaming flavors and focus on what each game does best, they take things from their one game experience to enhance the rest. (So I find after playing CoC, my players are much quicker to converse with NPCs in 4e. Or, after playing 4e, my players think more tactically about creative teamwork in 1e.)

So yeah, I heavily encourage branching out to qualitatively different games. :)

Playing:
1st Week: HARP
2nd Week: D&D 3.5
3rd Week: Spycraft 2.0
4th Week: Homebrew

Running:
PBP FantasyCraft

Wishing to run or play:
FantasyCraft
Pathfinder

I answered 3.5 because that's what I'm running now until the campaign ends (2 chapters left of Shackled City). Pathfinder is on deck as the next fantasy RPG to play.

But I'm also playing a little 4e and SWSE. So I could have answered a whole bunch of different ways.
