Which Miniatures company is best suited to take over the D&D pre-painted mini line?

I am also fond of the Empire line - but then my homebrew is set ca. 1630, in the equivalent of the Germanies. The archers set has a fellow that has just bagged a pheasant....

Not a surprise - the Perrys are historical wargamers, and this carries over into their designs and sculpts. (One of the brothers lost a hand when his cannon blew up in a reenactment.)

Yes, their ACW line is great. I had no idea about the one brother's loss of a hand. That is sad.

Wizkids -- with the Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit lines may not be DDMs, but if well done, should be very usable for sure purposes.

Add in Mageknight to that? They might be just good enough for those that need them.

Right... the bird...

I totally read that as 'bagged a peasant' and pictured this archer dragging a dead enemy soldier behind him.

If Reaper would get off their asses, the FANTASY ENCOUNTERS line would be a good go-to for the pre-painted plastic mini consumer.

Lord knows I'm trying to go there for my "hordes o' monsters" (finances are the big problem).

I initially went with GW but at the end of the day having to assemble then paint is worse than having to just paint.

So I'm stuck with a bunch of WARHAMMER FANTASY minis and Reaper metal minis until I can find a buyer. :(

I made the decision to switch because while a player will appreciate a nicely painted evil wizard controlling the orcs, he or she probably doesn't give a damn that orc #187 back there has a nicely detailed buckler...!

Revisiting this thread because of a stray thought - perhaps a collabaration between Paizo and Reaper?

Tie the plastics in with Pathfinder Basic and add a dungeon crawl board game, along the lines of Warhammer Quest.

Make a package of miniatures an 'encounter' for the game, and include a card for an encounter deck. So, a pack of three goblin archers would be an encounter, as would a single minotaur.

Thats a killer Idea.

I'd buy pre-painted plastic minis of Pathfinder monster encounters.

They could even have Monster encounter packs linked to Pathfinder modules.

Far be it from me to stoop to underhanded tactics like mentioning Erik Mona.

That would be just wrong.

I think Reaper has already made miniatures for the Paizo adventure paths, as I know there are minis out there for Xanesha and The Skinsaw Man from Rise of the Runelords, and I'm sure there are others as well...

So, they've already got a head start on the idea.
