Which noble is best?

I participate in a PBEM in which I play a noble character. I'd like to look into a good "noble" class, and I've found roughly three variants out there, and I'm wondering which would be best to bring to my DM as a character class?

1) Noble class from Dragonlance Campaign Setting.
2) Noble class from Mongoose's Master Class Series
3) Green Ronin's Noble class from its series.

I'm only familiar with the first of those three, so I was hoping somebody here could give me some guidance on which of these is worth introducing, esp. considering which book is most worth buying.

I've never heard of the GR one; what book is that in? Also, there's a Wheel of Time Noble that could be converted fairly easily, and a Sovereign Stone noble, and the Rokugan Courtier is a similar class in concept.

There is a Nobel class from Star Wars d20, it may suit what you need, it would ofcourse need tweaking, that is unless your DM wouldnt mind you using Blaster Pistols.

I think the Wheel of Time noble is the same as the Star Wars noble though (at least, Star Wars pre-revised, I know it was.) At least it's the same basic milieu!

I forgot that they were quite similar. Hmm, I'd prolly go with WoT then, less to rework there.

Consider this a vote of no-confidence for the SW/WoT noble.

My problem with them is that they gave the character a "favor" to be used. That's great but when is it going to be used?

DM: There is an evil lich lurking in the Tomb of Horrors! You are called on to investigate.
PLAYER: Forget that! I call in a favor and level the tomb flat.
DM: Uh. OK. You win.
PLAYER: Great! Well, that was an easy module. What's next?

... you see the problem? The favor can't be used for big events or there is no game. The favor can be used for small events, but that kind of sucks because using a character ability for small gain is just lame. Remember all the complaints about a 3.0 ranger using the hated enemy ability against undead? Its kind of the same thing.

Just my two cents.

In SW Revised, the noble's "call in a favor" is replaced by a "favor check" usable once per week. I actually kind of like it because it represent's the noble's pull and ability to get things through a bureaucracy.

The GR Noble will be in the "Master Class" Noble's Handbook. Nobody's heard of it because it comes out next month.

Silly me.

Anyway, I'm a little leary of the SW/Dragonlance/WoT Noble. For some reason, I think it lacks flavor; it's kind of like a neutered bard.

It goes back to DM discretion, that's true. With a good DM it's a good ability, otherwise it's a problem waiting to happen. However, I do share your apprehension about that particular ability. I'm not familiar with the Dragonlance one, though -- does it have something similar?

I do like the Rokugan courtier quite a bit as a "noble" although it is just a wee bit "Oriental" in flavor.

I like the Noble from the Sovereign Stone setting.

The Noble from Mongoose was just the Noble from Fading Suns, with some of the flexibility removed
