Just a friendly suggestion but your Admin directory is showing. You might want to change that. :)

Edit: And your roll over on the gold text goes to gold...making the link invisible. ;)

The Guild of Blades now intends to set up its own web store for its growing PDF catalog.

Bill,

What I would like most for a PDF merchant option is something super simple like Paypal with a block of code I can drop into our own site's PHP templates. Then when orders go through Paypal the program would send them their download links. Something very simple like that. From the sounds of this discussion it sounds like ZenCart and some other options have their own built in page templates, which is what I don't need.

My Wife is actually a programmer and helping us with our interactive games such as http://www.1483online.com , and on the side now working on building a custom CRM system meant to intergrate with Paypal and handle all this stuff, plus provide customer Zip Code mapping and some other features. But sadly, this is a new project only recently begun and won't be available for some time. I don't want to wait that long to get our own PDF store up and running, nor do I want to distract her with making something custom for our PDF store to get Paypals IPN to recieve customer data and send out the download links.

You know of any software out there for download where I can just install a database and otherwise just use custom purchase tags to inset onto any page like Paypal's tags?

Ryan,
Well, it depends. IPN, ostensibly, works off a single page of code and setting up your merchant account to notify a specific page. This page can receive status of the transaction including a pending state. The notified page then can continue to query the IPN interface until a confirmed query or you can set IPN up to notify when the transaction goes through. Now, this is really only concern with credit cards as the Paypal accounts are confirmed as the transaction occurs (although these can take time as well if there is no money in the account). Once confirmed your notify page can contact Interlock and have it send off a redirected link to the customer. Easy in theory and Interlock has some support for this.

I would suggest starting with Interlock. It costs something like $50 but seems solid. I have not worked with it personally but it comes recommended. I have the above logic in JSP and the IPN developers network has support for PHP but I just never looked at it.

Was that the kind of thing you were looking for?

Sorry Steve, don't mean to be a nag but your 404 page has black text on black background.

Yeah, I know. They were the last things I had to customize after rebuilding my site and building the storefront this week. They should all be retooled to the new site look now, but thanks for the heads up, Bill.

Swapping sounds like a great idea. I just need to get the kinks out of my store yet. Must still be missing something in the configuration yet...
