Another Arcanis fan
I think the Arcanis setting has more plunderable stuff than anything else I've read. Their recent book "

Ssethregore: In the Coils of the Serpent Empire" is the best treatment of the scaly races I've seen. It's great stuff, check it out. Arcanis, for those who don't know, is a world torn by war and political manuvering based loosely on the Roman empire, with a mixing of many other flavors like an evil theocracy, an enlightened nation of color, vast Hinterlands and even a kingdom where all the citizens are equals to the nobility (all founbd in the setting book: Codex Arcanis). The Arcanis take on elves are the ellori, elemental beings created as slaves for the empire that preceds Ssethregore. There are five differet elements represented, fire, water, air, earth and life. Another interesting Arcanis bit is that the gods have no alingment, only the worshippers do. There can be a good cleric of Neroth, the god of death and disease, who focuses on the disease aspect of the gods portfolio and is a compassionate healer as well as Blight Bearers who spread disease with impunity and ill intentions. Arcanis is what brought me back to gaming. I've never gotten into FR or Greyhawk and I don't have a home brew. What made Arcanis the most accesable for me is that it is a sanctioned, member run, RPGA Living Campaign. So not only can I play it at cons, where they run a number of special events, but I can also download adventures for free if I order them as a Game Day through the RPGA. That may be more than some people want to do to play a game, you do have to plan in advance. But they're free!
